Tasmania still open for travel

Tuesday, 8 January 2013

Tasmania’s leading adventure travel operator, Tasmanian Expeditions, is advising the public that it’s business as usual and that travellers should not overlook Australia’s most popular summer time walking destination due to the recent devastating bushfires, which occurred mainly in the state’s far South-East.

The company altered the itinerary on only one tour in operation during the blaze but advises that no tours were cancelled and that it’s safe to travel for those considering escaping the mainland heat for the more temperate forest settings in popular destinations such as the Cradle Mountain National Park.

“Naturally, we wish the best for a speedy recovery to our fellow Tasmanians who suffered losses in the fires on the Tasman Peninsula. The fires are now controlled and we are pleased to advise that travellers should continue to travel to Tasmania with confidence,” said Chris Buykx, General Manager of Tasmanian Expeditions.

“All Tasmanian Expeditions tours are still operating as planned, there are no cancellations or need to change travel plans. Tasmania is a large and diverse island and 99% of the state remains open for travel. With cooler weather this week we look forward to the return to regular summer conditions,” continues Buykx.

Tasmanian Expeditions offers every single iconic walking experience on the island, including seven different walks that take in the Cradle Mountain National Park, as well as iconic adventures such as rafting the Franklin River.
