Queensland Theatre Company’s 2013 journey through love, art, laughter, drama, catharsis, glamour, song and adventure begins soon, and to make the choice easier, the company has announced a range of threesomes. Yep, threesomes!  Each threesome is a suggested set of three plays harnessing similar themes, from a trio of multi-award winning Broadway greats to the best three for a theatre novice. They include: Best of Broadway, Tour de Force, Live Love Laugh, For Arts Sake, Date Night, First-timer, and Deep & Meaningful.

Best of Broadway
Broadway comes to Brisbane! This star-studded package features the acclaimed six-time Tony Award winning masterpiece Red starring Colin Friels; David Ives’ deliciously sassy, Tony Award nominee Venus in Furwith Todd MacDonald & Libby Munro; and the reality-exploring Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award nominated Other Desert Cities.

  • Red: commences April 27
  • Venus in Fur: commences June 22

Tour de Force
The hilarious The Pitch & The China Incident are companion pieces written by acclaimed Australian writer Peter Houghton, showcasing tour de force roles for Hugh Parker and Barbara Lowing respectively. The blockbuster End of the Rainbow stars powerhouse actor Christen O’Leary brilliantly cast as Judy Garland, and the epic morality tale Mother Courage and Her Childrenis a stunning new translation with Ursula Yovich & David Page. All powerful performer-driven theatre.

For Arts Sake
A set for those purveyors of fine art, be it on stage, on canvas or on paper; featuring the powerful award-winning Red, the feisty Venus in Fur, and the relationship-exploring Other Desert Cities.

Live Love Laugh
This package taps into the humour of The Pitch & The China Incident; the spectacular highs and lows of life in End of the Rainbow, and the intricacies of love in the popular Noel Coward comedy Design for Living where Jason Klarwein and partner Kellie Lazarus form a “gentleman’s agreement” with Tama Matheson.

Date Night
It’s time date night came out of the movie theatre, and into the real theatre! These shows guarantee conversation, and perhaps a little romance on date night!
